Kiwanis Club of Miami Sponsors ZooRun
for Children in Foster Care!
Ten foster children had an unforgettable day at the 13th Annual ZOORUN at Zoo Miami
this past Saturday, November 1. Wearing bright shirts and carrying tote bags, they watched
the sunrise before joining 5,000 participants in the 5K and 100-yard dash events. Each child
proudly returned home with a medal!
This incredible experience was made possible by the Kiwanis Club of Miami, a generous
organization dedicated to supporting children throughout Dade County. “The Kiwanis put
smiles on all their faces,” said Marta Torres, Director of Licensed Care and Transitioning
Youth Services at Citrus Family Care Network, who was there to cheer on the kids. “The
Kiwanis Club of Miami is fantastic to partner with, and we deeply appreciate all that they do!”
After the race, the children sampled food from local vendors, with ice cream being the clear
favorite. They and their families spent the rest of the day exploring the Zoo, making it a truly memorable outing.
